The practice of Reiki is an original method of healing, developed by Mikao Usui, a Japenese Priest early in the 20th century. The Japanese word 'Reiki' translates as 'The Universal Life Force Energy'.
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes the body's natural healing. It is a non-invasive complimentary therapy which is channelled by means of touch to activate the natural healing process.
As a Reiki Practitioner I act as a channel connecting to the "Life Force Energy" or 'Personal Energy Field" which flows through and around every person. This energy field is bound up with a system of chakras, which are energy centres connected to different parts of the body and governs our physical and emotional wellbeing. I work on the Chakras around the body and the recipient of a Reiki treatment draws on this energy via the Practitioner, activating the body's natural ability to heal itself and restore physical and emotional wellbeing.
There are 21 chakras about the body and if these become blocked or unbalanced, because of emotional or physical problems, this can have a detrimental effect on our overall sense of balance and wellbeing.
Working on the chakras around the body I use my hands to connect to the chakras with each position being held for a few minutes; there is no massage or manipulation. Reiki enables the recipient to draw energy to where it is needed in the body enabling this energy to locate the source of the imbalance, and not just to the manifesting symptoms.
Reiki Healing Session is very simple and non-intrusive, Reiki energy is only positive and cannot do anything harmful. There is no need to remove any clothing as Reiki energy passes easily through all materials, including plaster casts. Reiki works on every level, mind, body and spirit not just the physical. Reiki is a holistic approach, meaning it looks at all aspects of health (physical, mental and spiritual).
My Reiki lineage traces back to the founder of Reiki, Mikao Usui, and I am fully conversant with the teachings of this incredible healing discipline.
Reiki may be experienced as a pleasant sensation of warmth or gentle tingling in the area being touched, coolness, a flow of energy, or nothing at all.
As the energy comes into balance, stress and tension are released and there is a deep sense of relaxation and a feeling of wellbeing. You may even fall asleep. Some clients see colours, images and experience a surge of emotion. You may even experience a whirlwind of reveries in which powerful memories are triggered. Practitioners believe it will take roughly a week for the energy to settle. Reiki healing can be used with confidence alongside orthodox healthcare, but Reiki is not, however, an alternative to conventional medicine. You should therefore always consult a GP about any medical issues.
Six sessions of Reiki are initially recommended with regular sessions after which enable the continuance of the healing Reiki Energy to work as a preventative measure regarding your health, leading to a happier and more balanced life.
